Little Miss

I found this shirt and other Little Miss shirts at Target a few months ago and I thought they fit Ava's personality to a tee! This one happens to be Ava's favorite "Little Miss Stubborn" Ava actually asks to wear this one, she will dig it out of the dirty laundry pile and put it on proudly, I just couldn't resist a picture of here cute, stubborn face!

So we scrapbook teachers have to make our projects so early, kind of a pain but it really gets me excited for the upcoming holidays! This is a book I will be teaching in Flagstaff on the December 12 weekend at a cute scrap store called Making Memories and More. This is just a sneak peek at what we will be making.

Halloween Night

We had a great time Halloween night with our extended family. Grace wanted to be the tween version of Alice in Wonderland and Ava of course changed her mind three times. For Ava's school party she was super girl, then she decided she wanted to be Luke Skywalker or Anakin (which I told her I wasn't fond of her dressing as a boy) so we compromised and put together a girl version of Batman. With scraps around the house, we used Grace's dance leotard and tights, a Hannah Montanna skirt, Ava's batman mask, arm guards, and utility belt, and we sewed a bright pink bow on the black cape to "girl it up" don't forget the pink high tops, it truly finishes off the costume.

Multiple Pumpkin Patches

Every year we love to go to a pumpkin patch, we have been to the ones in Az and Nebraska (can't be beat!) this year we were lucky enough to go to two. The first set of pictures are from Schneff farm, this has become somewhat of a family tradition and my girls look so forward to it, you'd think I was taking them to Disneyland! Since Az is lacking in the pumpkin patch department compared to the midwest, Schneff does a pretty good job. We had a ball, spent to much money, danced, laughed and stayed for 5 hours, a much needed family night out!

While we ate dinner, this awesome band was playing and Ava and Grace decided to do some crazy table dancing, the audience was very amused.
My children have a serious love of animals, we loved the barn animals so much we visited twice, in fact Kale told the girls that they could have a pet goat if they wanted out of my earshot and I vetoed that decision immediatly with our HOA and all.

This patch is from Mother Natures farm and we went with a bunch of ward mommies on Fall break, the little girls in these pictures are our very good friends kids, Keana, and Malia.

Flagstaff class

I had the opportunity to teach one of my scrapbooks at a cute store in Flagstaff, this is my wonderful class(minus a few who went home earlier) My in-laws have a beautiful cabin in Mund's Park so when I teach I have a great place to stay to make a mini vacation.

Grace's baptism

First Day of Pre-school

Well, I am officially an empty-nester! Yes, my little Ava is off to pre-school. This was a mixed emotions day for me, Ava is my last baby, (I do still call her baby) and seeing her off to school is a hard thing. Ava was not excited to go, she is such a mama's girl and is perfectly content to stay home for her entire childhood. She had a very hard time going for the first time as you can tell in the picture this is a very forced smile from Ava. We hope she will adjust quickly to her bi-weekly class times.

Labor Day

At the last minute our family decided to go out of town to our family's cabin in Flagstaff we had many adventures; going to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and a lava cave right outside Flagstaff. The weather was perfect!
As you can tell by Graces face she is not a fan of heights!

This is the Lava cave outside of Flagstaff. My girls had a blast exploring underground. The caves were really dry and surprisingly flat and very cold.

Girlfriends Galore

School Days Book

This is a new book I've just finished. Every year I make school books for my girls to store all their school papers, art work, report cards and of course pictures of the year's events. I will be teaching this book at Scrapbook Barn on September 23 and 26th from 10:30-2pm. Socky and Ruby

So as you have gathered Socky and Ruby are our beloved pets, these two are two of the five pets we have. Never would I have thought that I would be the owner of two Great Danes and three cats, of course when I married Kale, I took on two adopted cats and somehow he talked me into the other three. Sock is Grace's half wild bangel cat who 50% of the time lives outside. We had her microchipped, declawed, spayed and the cat still perfers to be outside and still manages to bring us home some sort of bloody animal treats once a week. Ruby is our dopey little, petite great dane, she is very small for a dane, only 110lbs. next to Max's 170lbs, she dwarfs him. We go through one 55lb. bag of pedigree every three weeks! On this day Ruby and Sock were cuddling sort of if you count Ruby having her entire mouth around socks head cuddling but seriously she loves it, it must be an animal form of endearment. Truth be told they are the sweetest dogs ever and my girls and husband adore them.

First Day of School

Here are some pictures of our first day of school at Ben Franklin Charter School, in my opinion-the best school! Grace started third grade and I know every parent says this but where did the time go? Grace does so well at school, I hardly ever need to help her, she has always had straight A's and that is an accomplishment at this school. The other girls in the photo are the cute girls in our carpool and one of Grace's best friends. Malia and Grace have been playing together since pre-school. Of course Ava had to get into the action even though pre-school for her does not start until September 10th!

Surprise Visit

We had a great surprise last week when my niece showed up from Las Vegas at our doorstep with Grammy Miller. Ellie is moving with her family to Conneticut and she dropped over to stay with us for a week. Grace was so happy to see her, its been eight months and we had her for five days. We played, went to Makutu's Island, went ice skating on a super hot day and had a girly photo shoot with fun hair and clothes! We will miss our Ellie when she goes.

Grammy Miller bought the girls three matching outfits for the photo shoot.

Slide Rock Weekend

Our family made a last minute decision to go to Flagstaff for the weekend, I had the weekend off of work and we have a family cabin so cool weather here we came. I hadn't been to Slide Rock since I was a kid so I thought my girls would have a blast there, the water was freezing but we went for it anyway. The landscape in Sedona is breathtaking, we had so much fun exploring and quietly hanging out in the perfect weather!

On this one, Grace went down the big slide by herself and went completely under, she was done with the slide after that!

Can you tell I have a thing for old signs? This place was off the side of the road in Sedona and I thought it would make a good photo opportunity.

Birthday Fun!

Birthday parties here are a BIG event, in this case it was Grace's 8th birthday party with 15 of her closest friends. We had a swim party with games, slip n' slide, snacks, cupcake decorating and tiara/wand making, needless to say I was very happy to send all those cuties home with their loot! Happy 8th Grace!

I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by, my little second grader is soon to be a third grader, YIKES! pretty soon I won't even be able to help her with her school work. Grace goes to a wonderful charter school that's called Ben Franklin and she's so smart, sometimes I have to reread her homework to make sure I understand, boy do I feel dum, I mean Dumb!
This is a cute picture of our car pool girls and Grace and Ava's best friends Keana and Malia. Ava loves the "BIG" girls and loves it when Keana comes to play. Grace and Malia have been best friends since preschool we sure are lucky to have such nice friends around us!

A Day Off School and the Phoenix Zoo!

So I made an executive decision and pulled Grace out of school to go to the Phoenix Zoo, she thought it was Christmas in May! I usually would not be this irresponsible but Grace is getting straight A's and I always work on the weekends so what a great day to spend with my two favorite girls!
Seriously, this squirrel was not afraid, it literally ate out of Grace's hand.

Ava decided to name her goat "Willie". She told me right there in the petting zoo that since I wouldn't let her have a goat, when she grew up she was going to have goats and horses and be a farm girl and that I could visit her. Then I asked her who would clean up the animals messes? she said that her husband would do it!

Yep, Ava's running this show!

The only way the zoo was bearable that day was because they have this awesome new water park in the middle of the zoo, so naturally this is where we spent two hours of our day. Grace and Ava found some little girls to play hide and seek with so Grace took it upon herself to make sure Ava didn't cheat!

Lady Friend

I took an awesome class on Saturday from a woman who flew in from California from the design team of Prima. What a fun idea, she had us make 22 tags and tie them onto a wire skirt frame of a wire dress form, I know this may sound weird but the final product is so dang cute and I love the idea for future use especially for the holidays! I of course did my own thing on the tags, I brought all of my tags home and used my own junk pile to embellish, I used mostly pictures of my kids for the tags and I think they turned out super cute!

We had a great Easter weekend, I loved the weather the most! We usually go to Superstition mountains for a picnic and egg hunt but we were rained out so we went to my sisters house for the hunt. This is a new cookbook I will be submitting to Mystic Paper this week. It is a 6x8 inch canvas cookbook with envelope pages to keep loose leaf recipes. It is made from the new Jenni Bowlin paper line, the cover is wrapped in chicken wire, eggs, and a fork drilled on the front as a handle, the spine of the book is a cereal box. Just finished this project for my little girls last night, I had collected some cute vintage flash cards from the kids catalog Land of Nod and incorporated them into a new canvas album. I built a shadow box for the cover bird out of canvases then in the back of the book built another shadow box to store extra photos of my cuties. Happy Spring!

Homemade Valentine Sign

So I was taking inventory of my decorations and although I have scads of Christmas, and Halloween decorations, I had no Valentine decorations soooo, I decided to do a little project last night a cute little well not little but big Valentine sign. This sign is made of masonite, paper, chipboard and glitter! It turned out pretty cute I think.

I have been working hard this week to get this project done, this will be my Valentine love book that I will be teaching in a private class. This book is a reverse canvas book that I used to build a shadow box. This book is filled with Cosmo Cricket paper from this year and last years lines of paper. There are eight pages front and back filled with all sorts of quotes and room for pictures of your loved ones or your special Valentine.

I just had to share some silly pix of my darling little three year old. She is wild, crazy and so much fun to play with and trying at times too! Her latest obsession is her new Nintendo DS. Yes, I know all of you out there are saying are you crazy to get a three year old a DS, well... she can be pretty relentless and after months of stealing her older sisters and constantly begging me to get her very own, I gave in. The second pix is her climbing into my closet to "play in the dark" as she put it, I was doing my hair one morning and heard some very soft music playing and wondered what the sound was and where it was coming from, I walked into my closet and found her on my middle shelf tucked behind my long dresses and found her playing her "marios" she is so dang funny!! After a long day of marios, dress up and "Harry Potter" she will sometimes conk out in the oddest positions, Love you little Avi!

I'm sure I told most of you that Grace was in the Chandler Nutcracker. We are so proud of her and all of her efforts, she has been practicing since October every weekend and some rehearsals went late into the evenings on school nights. Her last performance was December 21 and we were lucky to have some of our family drive in from Las Vegas to see her last show, here are some fun pics!

Santa Claus is coming to town!

This is the title of my latest project I finished last night, I had a hard time with this one, my creative juices took some time to get going. This book is devoted to Santa Claus and "believing" in magic this holiday season. I so look forward to Christmas because I not only have great memories of my childhood but I have two little girls that still believe in Santa which is so fun! I had a great time making this book, it is a 5x7 book filled with all sorts of techniques and all of this comes in your kit! I will be teaching this class at Mystic paper on Saturday, December 13. Disneyland and beach for Halloween!

I couldn't resist all the pictures at the beach, I don't think I'm very good at taking pictures, I just think my kids are extremely photogenic! I love picture opportunities at the beach, I always go crazy with the camera!

I decided to take my cute girls to Disneyland this past October and wanted to share our pictures, there is nothing like being at Disneyland during the fall when the decorations are breathtaking, my personal favorite is Haunted Mansion, its super scary, not really!

Finally, another project done! I must say Thanksgiving is a hard holiday for me to make books, I rarely take pictures of the day but I love the colors of fall so this is the perfect project. It's not a book but a storage folder compiled of 16 9x12 office folders and the beautiful Cosmo Cricket "Wanted" paper line, so beautiful. I fell in love with the Grimmerie book; the pictures, colors, and it's explanation of the two witches, I thought it would be fun to adapt it to a homemade Halloween book for my personal photos. I just finished this book for my friend Brooke, I used an older line of paper from Daisy D's and thought the colors were so bright and summery! This is a sneak peek of the "Wicked" Halloween book I designed. I am so excited about this book, it's made of two 8x10 canvas covers and has a witch theme. These are a few projects I did for a client and her three boys. New cosmo cricket house book

This is my latest project with a paper line I adore! I love Cosmo Cricket! Mystic Paper has just got in the "Hello Sunshine" line of paper and I am in heaven. This project is unique because I used a wooden easel and mounted 6x6 chipboard for pages. I also have a little surprise mini book on the front cover. This book is so fun with the vibrant colors and versatile because it can be a flat book or displayed as a picture book easel! Thanks for looking!

This is a private class I am offering. The cost is $48.00, we will make our own 6 by 12 inch chipboard book filled with Jenni Bowlin and Theresa Collins paper. New Projects!

This is my new completed project, a school book. I love making school books! I have made school books from paper bags, manila folders and office folders. This project has a clipboard cover and office folders on the inside. This is a fun project because I have incorporated lots of techniques. I used the alphabet grunge board, my new favorite product! I have inked, painted, crackled, and distressed the grunge board. I have also incorporated the beloved "Dick" and "Jane" characters, this is special to me because these books helped my daughter learn to read. I will be offering this book at Mystic Paper and a smaller version at Family Scrapbook Studio in Queen Creek. Call if interested, and dates and times will be available soon!

Private cook book class

I know I have posted pictures of this project before, I just wanted to do it again because I will be offering a private class in August, I have room for six more people, We will be making nine pages front and back full of vintage ephemera from the 1950's and 60's. We will also be drilling a fork in the side to add an extra touch. The book is a reproduction Better Homes and Gardens cook book from 1955, so fun! email me if interested.

My Little Girl Books!

These are a couple of projects I have been working on for my sweet little three year old, she just turned three in April and I made her this "3" book. It is an acrylic album mixed with chipboard pages. I used the new fabulous fancy pants paper with lots of embellishments I had laying around my house; appliques from Ava's shirts, baby jean pockets, chenille pieces from a dress she had, and left over boas from the dress up bin.

Ava has decided that she wants to be a pirate for Halloween, at least for this week, so I made this book for her, she's my sweet princess pirate!

Yes, I know, I am a maniac. I worked all day yesterday because I felt inspired, so that means I didn't clean my house, didn't put on make-up and didn't do my hair but I did manage to complete two projects that I love. I also snuck in a movie "Sex in the City" so funny! This project is a beeswax collage made of Tim Holtz products. Two 5 by 7 canvases hinged together with wooden letters, lots of inks, paint, ephemera and wax! I will be teaching this class at Mystic Paper on Saturday, July 26 from 3-6 pm so if your interested give the store a call!

Hello everyone, this is my latest project: En Vogue! I had so much fun designing this!! Anyone who knows me knows I love vintage so I took a little trip to a store in Tempe called SAS, yes I hated this store as a child, my mother would drag me to shop for fabric for hours on end; well 20 years later I had a blast going through trims, ribbons, and odds in ends, without the kids! This project is a chipboard purse with fabulous wood bead handles, lots of papers, ephemera, gold buttons, funky ribbons and trim, and oh yes, the pages are pattern tissue paper for a back ground with decoupage! Hope you like it!

Did I mention my husband is an awesome gardner? Every summer we get these huge, tall sunflowers that soar to the sky.

The Suitcase Travel Book

This is my latest project I'm going to submit to Mystic Paper today. I recently returned from southern California and felt inspired to put together a travel project. I wish I could say that I have traveled to foreign lands and have fantastic pictures to fill this journal with but for now California will have to do. The suitcase is a paper mache box covered in fabulous wrap from a company called Cavallini. The inside journal is a 7 by 7 book filled with six front and back pages, an accordian fold out page and pockets with tags and various ephemera. There is extra space for pictures and journaling your adventures. This book will be offered at Mystic Paper (pending their approval) for $65.00, sometime in early June, I will post dates later. I will also be putting projects together for a new store called Family Scrapbook Studio. It is located on Ellsworth and Ocotillo in Queencreek. I am very excited about this new venture, meeting new people, seeing other artists work. I know the owners and affiliates at this store and they are so kind I can't wait. Large Accordian book

I know I have posted pictures of this project before but it was incomplete so here's the final book. This is a book I put together for a private class. It is a large accordian file folder book that holds papers as large as 8 1/2 by 11. It is constructed of chipboard, gaffer tape, and the lovely Jenni Bowlin and Teresa Collins paper. I had a blast teaching this project to my fun group of ladies and what a great way to store all your loose leaf papers!

My California Trip!

Well, I had a great time in southern California with my family! We went to Disneyland for two days. This was Ava's first experience at Disneyland and I think she was a bit overwhelmed. Grace of course is a vetran of the Disneyland experience, (its her 4th visit!). Grace tried her first "big girl" rollarcoaster, she was so proud. I love the nostalgia of Disneyland, the whimsey and feeling like a kid again, I never tire of it!
We are waiting for the fire works show on Maine street, the girls got their faces painted at the princess fantasy faire!
Ava is riding her favorite ride, the carosel!
Our family also visited Huntington beach, the water was a bit cold, Kale attempted surfing, and the girls loved playing in the waves and sand, so many good pictures, I don't think I ever put the camera down.

Wow this weekend has been BUSY! We celebrated Ava's 3rd birthday Friday night at the park with our family, (which is large) we had a great time cooking hamburgers and hot dogs and playing. Ava as you can see has a new infatuation with Hannah Montanna (blonde wig) except she calls her Hannah Botanna. I can't believe my little baby is so big! The next day I had the priviledge of taking two classes from Tim Holtz!! What a fun experience. We made button bracelets, a bird charm pendant, and best of all this funky bird shadow box. I know its a bit on the weird side but I love it! There's just something about the unexpected and weird that I love. He was a fun teacher who kept 65 students together and for the most part we all finished on time. Talk about an exhausting day, 8 hours of artful bliss!!

Hi everyone, hope all is well. This is my latest project I just finished a couple hours ago ( the glue is still drying). I am so excited to teach this project, I found the neatest stuff, vintage ephemera, 60's coupons, old paper milk caps, and buttons and trim. This book is actually a reproduction Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from the 50's. The paper is aged and the images are so fantastic, you can't beat it! I will be offerinfg this class at Mystic paper before Mother's Day ( no date yet- you can call the store for more info.) or a private class for my favorite group of ladies YAY! The cost is$80.00 primarily because of the initial cost of the Homes and Gardens book is $16.00, I can get it at Barnes&Noble for a discount. The book really makes the project POP! This book is also a Mystic Paper class I will be teaching Tuesday April, 15 from 6-9pm. I just love birds and spring themed paper to work with. This book was fun to design because I used alot of fun stamps, a gesso technique, vintage sheet music, gorgeous trims, and a little bit of sewing.

This book is one of my first altered books I taught at Mystic Paper back in December of 2007! I had this awesome compass clock and sunk it inside an encyclopedia in a tricky way,shhh, its a secret! All the ladies who took the class know the "drill".
